BUTTERED PEASE [2]. AKA and see "Jockey Has Gotten a Wife." Country Dance Tune (6/4 time). The melody, a version of "Jockey had gotten a wife," appears under this title in the ballad opera The Female Parson (1730); the same opera has a version of "Buttered Pease" under the "Jockey" title, thus the two titles were reversed, according to Bruce Olson.
