BY MOON LIGHT ON THE GREEN. Scottish, Air (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. Researcher Matt Seattle finds a tune in Northumbrian musician Henry Atkinson's 1694-95 music manuscript collection as a earlier version of Oswald's "By Moonlight on the Green." In the Atkinson MS it is untitled, with the note at the end "Scotch tune of Mr Purselle" [1].
