CHINQUAPIN/CHINQUIPIN. AKA and see "Sail away Ladies (6)." Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Virginia. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A chinquapin is an edible dwarf chestnut. The tune was recorded by fiddler Roscoe Parish (Coal Creek, Carroll County, Va.) as "Chinquapin," while Tommy Jarrell (1901-1985, Mt. Airy, N.C.) recorded a version as "Sail away Ladies (6)" (not related to the tunes that usually go by that title).
