ELIZABETH ADAIR. Scottish, Jig. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. Composed by fiddler Angus Fitchet, who toured with Jimmy Shand's dance band and with his own "Broadcasting Band." The tune honors Elizabeth Adair (1910-2005), who became the first female presenter and announcer for BBC Scotland. She was responsible for bringing many folk acts to BBC Radio including Hector McAndrew, Bill Hardie, J. Murdoch and Ian Powrie. See also the Irish adaptation of the melody as "Dálaigh's Slide."
