ESSEX BUILDING. AKA - Essex Buildings." English, Country Dance Tune & Jig (6/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune and dance instructions were first printed by London publisher Henry Playford in the eighth edition of the Dancing Master (1690). It was retained in the long-running Dancing Master series throught the 18th and last, printed in 1728 by John Young, heir to the playford publishing concenrns. It was was also published by John Walsh in his Complete Country Dancing Master (1718, and subsequent editions of 1731 and 1754).
