FLIRTATION (THE). English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The second part has an unusual six measures. The melody was either originally an air, or employed as an air, for songs set to it called "The Flirtation" and "The Flirtation Answer'd" are to be found on late 18th century English song sheets (deposited at Harvard and the Boston Public Library).
