GARTAN LULLABY. AKA - "Gartan Mother's Lullaby." Irish, Air or Waltz. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The melody was collected in County Donegal around the turn of the 20th century by Herbert Hughes, to which lyrics were penned by Seosamh Mac Cathmhaoil. The song was first published in Songs of Uladh [Ulster] in 1904. Gartan is a place-name in Donegal.
