GETTYSBURG MARCH, THE. AKA and see "Bugle Horn (1) (The)," "Lady in the Boat," "Fermanagh Quickstep," "McCarthy March (The)," "McCarthy's Quick Step." American, March (6/8 time). USA, southwestern Pa. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A march with Irish antecedents in the "The Lady in the Boat" (Joyce, 1909, No. 124), "Fermanagh Quickstep" (Kerr, c. 1880's) and "The McCarthy March" (JIFSS, XV, p. 9). However, the earliest printing Bayard could find was in Keith Norman MacDonald's Gesto Collection (1889), where it appears as "Bugle Horn."
