HIGHWAY TO BOUTRIE HILL, THE. Scottish, Jig (6/8 time). D Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest printing of the tune in Ayrshire fiddler-composer biography:John Riddell's collections (p. 42). Boutrie Hill was the Ayrshire birthplace of High Montgomerie (1739-1819), 12th Earl of Eglinton.
