HIGHWAY TO NEWFIELD, THE. AKA - "High Way to Newfield, The." Scottish, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest printing of the tune in biography:John Riddell of Ayr's 1782 collection (p. 11). Newfield was an estate in Ayrshire, the seat of the Crauford (Crawford etc.) family, the various names of whom are attached to tunes in Riddell's collection.
