HONOURABLE GEORGE MURRAY (THE). Scottish, Jig (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Sir George Murray [1] (1772–1846) was a British soldier and politician from Scotland, second son of Sir William Murray, of Ochtertyre, 5th Baronet. He served in the British army in a number of posts, rising to the rank of Major-General, and served with Wellington in the Peninsular Campaign during the wars with Napoleon.
