HUNTLY'S WEDDING MEDLEY (Banais Marcus Hunndfhuinn). Scottish, Strathspey. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part (Kerr): AB (Fraser, Skinner). Composed by Capt. Simon Fraser, "from Captain Fraser's Collection" (Skye)./ "These two (tunes) form a medley (with "Merry May the Pair Be"), in high request, form the occasion which gave rise to them. It may readily be remembered that it was not only where Huntly's wedding took place it fell to be celebrated,--many gentlemen interested in the prosperity of his family, assembled their friends, and celebrated this wedding ideally at their own homes,--others entertained their tenantry round a bonfire, with Highland Cheer, and dancing to the bag-pipe,--Lovat, in particular, had bonfires on all his hills. Indeed, where all were so anxious to testify their respectful attachment to this amiable nobleman, it is impossible to discriminate. Let the editor's mite be permitted to commemorate it" (Fraser).
