JAMES RIVER REEL. American, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was published in George P. Knauff's Virginia Reels, vol. III (Baltimore, 1839), attributed to L.W. Webb. The James River is a major waterway in eastern Virginia, emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.
