KATIE BAIRDIE. AKA and see "Kafoozalum," "Kette Bairdie," "Old Mrs. Huddledee," "Simon Brodie." Scottish, Air. The title and tune appear in one of the earliest Scottish fiddlers' MS repertory books, c. 1705, in the private collection of Francis Collinson (1966). The "Katie Bairdie" title for the tune, like "Old Mrs. Huddledee," comes from a rhyme sung to it:
Katie Bairdie's wooden leg,
Kicked the bairns oot o' bed;
A' the fleas ran up her leg,
Dance, Katie Bairdie.
