LADY DALRYMPLE HAMILTON'S REEL. Scottish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Attributed to fiddler-composer Biography:John French (1752-1803) of Cumnock, Ayrhshire. The title refers probably to Jane Duncan (1779-1852), later Lady Dalrymple-Hamilton, daughter of Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan (1731-1804), the hero of the victory over the Dutch at Camerdon (1797). In 1800, at age 21, she married Lieut. Col. Sir Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple 4th Bt. of North Berwick.
