LANCASHIRE HORNPIPE [1]. AKA and see "College Hornpipe (The)," "McNeile's Hornpipe." known familiarly as the "Sailor's Hornpipe (1)." The Lancashire Hornpipe was a step-dance known throughout Britain in the 19th century, and the name of the dance often lent itself to the accompanying tune.
