MASTER JOHN ROMILY. Scottish, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833). Moyra Cowie (The Life and Times of William Marshall, 1999) speculates that Master John may have been the son of Sir Samuel Romilly, the great jurist, although no connection has been made. Marshall also composed another reel in the collection for "Master Frank Romily," presumably a brother.
