McPHEE'S RANT. Canadian, Reel. Canada, Prince Edward Island. A Mixolydian/Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Perlman (1996) states the tune is probably a local variation by the source's father, John J. McPhee. In Gaelic Scotland the MacPhees were the record-keepers (largely orally transmitted) to the Lords of the Isles.

Source for notated version: Dan McPhee (1920-1994, Elimra, North-East Kings County Prince Edward Island; late resident of Brantford, Ontario) [Perlman].

Printed sources: Perlman (The Fiddle Music of Prince Edward Island), 1996; p. 101.
