MISS JANE YOUNG—BANFF. Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by William Marshall (1748–1833). Miss Jane was Archibald Young of Banff’s daughter, according to Moyra Cowie (The Life and Times of William Marshall, 1999). The father was the solicitor for the Duke of Gordon in Banff, with whom Marshall would have been in contact with in his position as Steward of the Household.
