MISS NOBLE. Irish, Planxty (6/8 time). G Mixolydian (Lee): G Dorian (Mulhollan). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738). The melody was published in John Lee's A Favourite Collection of the so much admired old Irish Tunes (Dublin, 1780, p. 23). O'Sullivan (1958) could find no information regarding the subject of Carolan's tune, but mentions that families by the name Noble resided in Counties Tyrone and Fermanagh in the harper's lifetime.
