MONK'S MARCH, WITH THE WANDERS. English, Country Dance Tune (2/2 & 6/8 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'CCDD'. The tune, an expanded version of John Playford's earlier "Monk's March" or "Lord Monk's March" (printed in 1657) was published in all four editions of London publisher John Young's The Second Volume of the Dancing Master [1] (1710-1728), and in Walsh & Randall's The New Country Dancing Master, Second Book (1710, as "Monk's March") and Walsh & Hare's The Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (1719 as "Monk's March with the Wanders").
