MOREEN (Moirin). AKA and see "Móirín (The)," "Minstrel Boy (The)." Irish, Air (2/4 or cut time). F Major (Petrie): G Major (O'Flannagan): D Major (Clinton). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune for which Thomas Moore set his lyric "Minstrel Boy (The)." It first appeared in Neale's collection of 1787. The title is a variant of the name Maureen. See also the related tune "Tither Morn (The)."
