MORNING STAR [6], THE. AKA and see "Cat d'ith an choinneal (An)," "Cat that Ate the Candle (1) (The)." Irish, Reel (cut time or 2/4 time). D Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. Brendan Breathnach called Hardebeck's tune a "faulty version" of "Cat that Ate the Candle (1) (The)."

Source for notated version: Fiddler John Duffy or Sean O'Gorman. Hardebeck identified most of the tunes in his vol. 1 as obtained from one of the two fiddlers, but did not specify which tune he got from which source.
