MR. ROBERTSON OF LADYKIRK. Scottish, Slow Strathspey. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Nathaniel Gow [1] (1763–1831). Ladykirk is in Berwickshire near the River Tweed and Ladykirk House was built in 1797 in the Classical style to a design by the architect William Elliot (it was demolished in 1966). Robertson was a gentleman farmer and breeder of cattle and other livestock. See also the strathspey composed for his wife by Nathaniel’s brother John (“Mrs. Robertson of Ladykirk’s Favorite”).
