MRS. ANNE MACDERMOTT ROE. AKA – "Nancy McDermot," "Planxty Nancy McDermott." Irish, Planxty (2/4 time). D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670–1738). Donal O'Sullivan's version is from Belfast musician and collector Edward Bunting's Ancient Irish Music (1796), who noted it from the playing of harper Rose Mooney. It was composed, notes O'Sullivan (1958), on the occasion of the wedding of Henry McDermott Roe to Anne, the daughter of Colonel Manus O'Donnell, of Newport, County Mayo. See also note for "Annotation:Katherine O'More", where Anne is mentioned.
