MRS. (DOCTOR) LAING'S STRATHSPEY--FOCHABERS. Scottish, Strathspey. E Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833). Moyra Cowie, in her book The Life and Times of William Marshall (1999), identifies Mrs. Laing as the wife of Dr. Laing who lived at Fochabers and moved to Boharm, Keith (see also note for “Doctor Laing”).
