NEWMARKET [2]. AKA - "Newmarket (Second Part)." English, Country Dance Tune (6/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The melody and dance directions were first published by John Playford in his Dancing Master, 7th edition (London, p. 160). It was retained in the long-running Dancing Master series through the 18th and final edition of 1728, published at that time in London by John Young, heir to the Playford publishing concerns. It was also published by John Wlash in London in his Compleat Country Dancing Master (1718, and susequent editions of 1731 and 1754).
