OLD HICKORY. AKA and see "Chapel Hill March/Serenade," "Coleman's March (1)," "Green Willis (1)," "Raw Recruit (The)," "New Rigged Ship (1) (The)." American, Quadrille (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. As "The New Rig'd Ship," the tune dates back to the 18th century British Isles. Old Hickory was a nickname for President Andrew Jackson, although the connection with the tune is unknown.
