PADDY THE PIPER [3]. AKA and see "Pat Murphy the Piper." Irish, Air and Jig ('A' and 'B' parts in 6/8 time, 'C' part in 9/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. A song air played as a jig. See note for "Annotation:Pat Murphy the Piper" for more. A rhythm change from 6/8 to 9/8, points out Paul de Grae, is unusual in Irish music found in one other tune, "Merry Tailor (The)" AKA "Is the Big Man Within?."
