PASS OF KILICRANKIE/KELECRANKIE, THE. AKA and see "Miss Lucy Campbell." Scottish, Strathspey. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of the tune in print in Alexander McGlashan's 1780 collection (p. 18), however a version of the tune predating McGlashan is to be found in Edinburgh publisher Neil Stewart's 1761 collection under the title "Miss Lucy Campbell."
The Pass of Killiecrankie [1] is a magnificent wooded gorge with the River Garry flowing along its base. The Battle of Killiecrankie [2], the major event in the first of the Jacobite uprisings, was fought nearby.
