PORT'S TUNE. American, Air or March (4/4 time). USA, southwestern Pa. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune was named for the fiddler, one Port from McAlevy's Fort, Huntingdon County, Pa., from whom Bayard's source learned the tune. Bayard finds a general resemblance exists between this tune and the shape-note hymn "Sabbath Summons" in McCurry (The Social Harp, 1855, p. 149).
