PUSSY AND THE BABY. AKA and see “Hell on the Wabash (4),” “She Oughta been a Lady,” “Silver Lake (4).” Old-Time, Breakdown. Mel Durham, an Illinois native, had the tune under the title “Pussy and the Baby,” although in Missouri it can be found as “She Oughta been a Lady.” Bayard prints it as “Silver Lake.” The melody is related to the Irish hornpipe “Boys of Bluehill (The)” AKA “Beaux of Oak Hill (1).”
