WANTON WIDOW, THE. English, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody originally appeared in London publisher Charles and Samuel Thompson’s 1765 country dance volume. It was later included in the 1770 music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician William Vickers, about whom, unfortunately, nothing is known.
