WAY UP ON THE MOUNTIAN. AKA and see “Lynchburg Town (1).” Old-Time, Breakdown. A version of "Lynchburg Town (1)" in the repertoire of African-American fiddler Joe Thompson, who played the piece in FCGD tuning. Thompson sang:

Goin’ downtown
Goin’ downtown
Goin’ down to Lynchburg town
Ain’t coming back no mo’!

Goin’ downtown
Goin’ downtown
Goin’ down to Lynchburg town
To sell my ‘baccer down.

Way up on the mountain
Way up on the mountain
Way up on the mountain
Where the eagle builds his nest.
