WEE WILLIE'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Accoding to the note accompanying the strathspey, it was composed by the nine-year-old son of Annandale, Dumfries, fiddler-composer biography:James Porteous (1762-1847). Porteous is lightly regarded nowadays, but contributed a couple of lasting tunes to the repertory (see "Miss Rogerson's Strathspey AKA "South of the Grampians). The strathspey was entered into the c. 1850 music copybook of Lake District, Cumbria, musician William Irwin.
