WHERE'S THE SLAVE SO LOWLY (Ca b-buil an yraill vom taire). AKA and see "Banks of Banna (The)," "Down Beside Me." Irish, Air (4/4 time, "with feeling"). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Where's the slave so lowly" is poet Thomas Moore's [1] (1779-1852) song, set to a much older melody ("Down Beside Me" AKA "Sin Sios agus sios liom"), first published in the early 18th century. "Banks of Banna (The)" is a related air, also an adptation of "Down Beside Me."
