YOUNG BLACK COW, THE AKA – "Druim fhionn dubh óg (A)," "Druim-fionn donn og," “Druim-fionn dub og.” AKA and see: “Drimmin Dhoun Oge." Irish, Slow Air (3/4 time). G Mixolydian (Roche): G Dorian (O'Neill). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Unrelated to the similarly titled "Dear Black Cow (1)/Dear Black Cow (2)" (Drimin dubh). See late 18th century uilleann piper O'Farrell's version as “Drimmin Dhoun Oge" (a phonetic rendering of the Irish Gaelic title), and, still earlier, James Oswald's "Drimen Duff."
