CLOG AMÉRICAINE. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). C Major ('A' part) & A Minor ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB. A binary tune recorded by Montreal accordion player Joseph Plante (1876-1947) in 1931. The first strain is shared with the British/Irish Miss McLeod's Reel (1)/Mrs. MacLeod's Reel," and, more to the point of Plante's title, the American derivatives known under numerous titles, including "Hop High Ladies," "Old Dad," "Stoney Point," and "Wild Horse." However the second strain is entirely new.
