Scott Skinner (1843-1927), for violinist Jamie Mackintosh of Dunkeld, Perthshire. James Mackintosh (1801–1873) was a grandson of famed fiddler-composer Robert "Red Rob" Mackintosh (1745-1807) and came from a musical extended family. He became a violin-maker and was a pupil of Peter Hardie (“Highland Hardie"). Jamie Mackintosh was also a teacher and taught violin to the grandfather of Hector MacAndrew (d. 1980), who became perhaps the finest fiddler of his generation.
