LORD CASSILIS'S REEL. Scottish, Reel (cut time). C Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Ayrshire fiddler-composer biography:John Riddell (1719-1795). His title honors David Kennedy, 10th Earl of Cassilis (c. 1734-1792), who succeeded in November, 1775, on the death of his older brother, Thomas, who had died without issue. David never married and the baronetcy became extinct on his death. See Riddell's "David Earl of Cassil's Reel" for more.
