RETURN TO KINTAIL (Theidh mi dhachaigh). Scottish, Slow Air (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The air has many variants, and the song several sets of words. It may have been composed by a wounded soldier at Sherrifmuir, fearful that he might never get back to the “cattle-fold” of Kintail, an area of Kintail encircles by hills. See also a pipe lament called “I Will Return to Kintail” composed by William Ross, appearing in the Seaforth Highlanders tunebook, and Morison’s “I'll Return to Kintail.”
