RODDY JOE'S REEL. AKA and see “Pigeon on the Gate (2)," “Pride of the Ball," "Queen's Marriage (The)," "Speed the Plow," "Twin Sisters.” Perlman (1996) lists “Roddy Joes” as a North-East Kings County, Prince Edward Island, title for “Pride of the Ball” AKA "Pigeon on the Gate (2)." But he notes that because of the second alternate there is sometimes confusion with a different tune, “Pigeon on the Gatepost (2).” "Roddy Joes Reel" is the name the tune was called by PEI musicians George MacPhee and his aunt Hilda MacPhee MacDonald, in honor of their grandfather Roddy Joe MacPhee.
