RUSSELL’S HORNPIPE. AKA and see “Jaunting Car,” “Woodcock Hill,” “Lodge Gate (The),” “Pound Hill.” Irish, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was recorded by Packie Russell (concertina) on the 1974 album “The Russell Family of Doolin, Co. Clare" (Topic 12TS251), where it appears as "Russell's Hornpipe," presumably as they had no name for it. However, it is a version of "Woodcock Hill." The first strain is shared with several other hornpipes, including the "Back of the Haggard (1)" tune family.
