SALLY KELLY [1]. Scottish, Irish, English; Reel. Ireland, County Donegal. England, North West. D Minor (Gow, Petrie, Stewart-Robertson): E Minor (Feldman & O’Doherty, Surenne). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Surenne): AAB (Gow, Stewart-Robertson): ABB (Feldman & O’Doherty): AABB (Petrie). John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of the tune in print in Robert Ross's 1780 collection (p. 40). Danny O’Donnell’s County Donegal version of the tune is similar in contour to the Scottish versions.
