SCOTT'S FAVORITE. AKA and see "Duke of Gordon's Rant (The)," American, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody, a distanced American variant of the Scottish “Duke of Gordon's Rant (The),” was published in George P. Knauff’s Virginia Reels, vol. III (Baltimore, 1839, No. 8). The similar title "Scott's Return" may be a possibly be a related tune. "Hounds in the Briar Patch" has also been suggested as an alternate title.
