SEAMAN'S CLUB, THE (Cumann na Mairnealac/Mairnealaig). Irish, Hornpipe (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Collector Captain Francis O’Neill was a sailor in his youth, and was even shipwrecked in the Pacific for a time before being rescued by a passing vessel. He also worked for a time on the Great Lakes as a seaman. The tune and title seem unique to the O'Neill collections, and he makes no remark about it in his writings.
