SEARCHING FOR YOUNG LAMBS. Irish, Air (4/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. "I learned this pleasing little peasant pastoral and its air in my early days from hearing it sung at home: beyond that I know nothing about it. So far as I am aware, it has not been hitherto printed either words or air" (Joyce). There is an English song called "Searching for Lambs" which Cazden (et al, 1982) mentions in connection with his Catskill Mountain (New York) collected "The Bright Sunny South"), though his and Joyce's tunes have little in common.
