The melody appears in the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of Church of Ireland Canon biography:James Goodman (1828-1896). Goodman, an Irish speaker and uilleann piper, collected in tradition in County Cork and elsewhere in Munster, but also obtained tunes from manuscripts and printed sources.
