CALICO [2]. AKA - "Marcus Martin's Calico." American, Reel. AEac# tuning (fiddle). A different tune than "Calico (1)." It was in the repertoire of Swannanoa, North Carolina, fiddler Marcus Martin (1881-1974), who played it in AEac# tuning, often referred to by 'revival' fiddlers as 'Calico tuning'. Martin was recorded playing the tune by folklorists Alan Lomax, Joseph Liss and Jerome Wiesner in 1941 in Asheville, N.C. (AFS 04796 A05).
