CARAVAT AND SHANAVEST, THE. Irish, Hornpipe. D Aeolian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Caravat and Shanavest were the names of two fighting factions in and around Co. Kilkenny, about the beginning of the 1800's. See note for "annotation:Shanavest and Caravat (1)" for explanation.
